this is a sloppy mess of a biography. difficult to read, follow, and understand. the author, a german, goes beyond hero worship to praise the entire german people as nothing less than superior gods capable of only works of supreme genius. laughably falling over himself in a constant waterfall of praise and adulation, the author fails to convince, only bemuse.
How does one complain about a free download which I will eventually get around to reading. On the other hand I am anxious to see how this consummate anti Semite is excused for his vitriolic anonymous pamphlets attacking Mendelssohn who promoted his early works.
I'm still in the process of reading this book but so far it's very informative.
I would like to see more biographies of famous musicians past and present.
